Stage 1 - Surface Mount Population (2-3 hours)

Stage 1 - Surface Mount Population
□ Solder on surface mount chip capacitors (not the taller lytic caps yet).
□ Solder on the surface mount diodes. WATCH ORIENTATION! Faint line on diode goes to same side as the "line" at the end of the triangle on the pcb silkscreen.
□ Solder on any addition SMD components that this generic guide may have missed.
Stage 2 - Through Hole Population
After making it through the surface mount portion of the build, the rest of the population should be easy. Take a quick break to recharge before returning back to soldering. You may be able to skip over a good portion of this stage if there are little or no through-hole components on your build.
□ Solder on the 10 pin power header.
□ Solder on resistors.
□ Solder on IC sockets / IC chips. WATCH ORIENTATION! Pin 1 of the IC goes to the square padded hole on the PCB.
□ Solder on diodes. WATCH ORIENTATION! Cathode "line-end" of diode goes to the square padded hole on the PCB.
□ Solder on capacitors. WATCH ORIENTATION! (if applicable). The positive end of electrolytic capacitors goes to the square padded hole on the PCB.
□ Solder on component-side trimpots. READ THIS! Some builds (like the Bermuda) may have trimpots on both sides of the PCB. Only solder on trimpots that are on the same side as the SMD components. Trimpots on the other side of the PCB will be put on in the final assembly stage.
Stage 3 - Assembly
□ Stuff all related hardware (pots, jacks, trimpots, switches, LEDs, etc) in place on the PCB, then gently fit the panel over top of it all. Long lead on LEDs goes to the square padded hole.
□ Gently tighten everything in place. At this point you should have no unused parts left in your kit (except for extras). Make sure plastic shaft pots are not tilted or rubbing against the edge of the panel.
□ Solder everything in place.
□ Put on knobs.
